Breaking news: Bassett woman charged in stabbing incident

A Fieldale woman was in stable condition Thursday after being stabbed Wednesday night, and a Bassett woman has been charged in connection with the incident, according to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
The Martinsville/Henry County 911 Center received a call of a stabbing at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday at 1113 Field Ave., the release said.
The victim, Randi Mckel Chandler, 21, of the same address, “was assaulted causing numerous lacerations to her head, upper torso and both arms,” the release said. “She also sustained a stab wound to her back.”
Chandler was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition, the release said.
Brittany Nicole Mabry, 22, of 137 Alan Adale Drive, Bassett, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, a felony, in connection with the incident. She is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond, the release said.
