By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS -
Three Winston-Salem, N.C., men have been arrested in connection with the August armed robbery of Carter Bank and Trust in Ararat, Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said in a news release.
Jamel Clifton Allen, 36, and Devin Montae Robinson, 22, were indicted Oct. 24 in U.S. District Court in Roanoke, the release said. Each was charged with armed bank robbery, conspiracy to commit bank robbery and use of a firearm while in commission of a crime of violence, the release said.
Both Robinson and Allen are in federal custody, it added.
In addition, Diarus Mark Raynor, 21, was indicted in federal court on charges of bank robbery and conspiracy to commit bank robbery, according to the release and online court records. Raynor was released on bond, the release said.
According to Smith, officers responded to a holdup alarm at 9:39 a.m. Aug. 2 at Carter Bank and Trust on Ararat Highway. Bank employees told deputies that a man entered the bank with his face covered, displayed a firearm and demanded money, the release said.
