Tuesday, December 10, 2013
Solid Stone Fabrics in Martinsville plans to expand, adding 16 jobs and investing $1.0 million in equipment over the next three years, according to a news release.
Founded in 2003, the company develops, sources and stocks specialty fabrics for various markets. It produces flags, banners, swimwear, dance wear and active apparel.
According to the release, “The company will continue to operate in their current location on Fayette Street in the city of Martinsville, and will be expanding to the former American of Martinsville headquarters building on Church Street in Uptown Martinsville to utilize an additional 23,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The company expects to be fully operational in their new facility by December 15, 2013.”
The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp. worked in partnership with the city of Martinsville to secure the project, the release said. The project qualifies for local Enterprise Zone Grants offered by the city. In addition, the Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $100,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds for the project, the release said. Through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance will also provide funding to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.
