Two die in wrecks

A Fieldale man and a Buchanan man were pronounced dead following traffic accidents Tuesday in Henry and Patrick counties, according to the Virginia State Police.
The victims are Tyre Nauzea Johnson, 28, of Fieldale, and William Kyle Boone Jr., 84, of Buchanan, the State Police reported.
The first accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on U.S. 220 North, one-tenth of a mile south of Route 849 in Henry County, the State Police release said.
A 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling north on U.S. 220 when it ran off the right side of the road, went down an embankment and struck a tree, the release said.
Johnson, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
The second accident occurred around 10:50 a.m. on Route 609 two miles north of Route 615 in Patrick County, the release stated.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was traveling northbound on Route 609 when it became stuck in a curve, the release stated.
The driver attempted to put the vehicle in reverse and in doing so, the vehicle traveled down the side of a mountain, the release added.
Boone, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
Neither Johnson nor Boone was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crashes, the release added.
Both accidents remain under investigation, the State Police reported.
