Wounding charge pressed
Wednesday, January 22, 2014
A Bassett woman was indicted Tuesday in connection with an alleged October stabbing.
Brittany Nicole Mabry, 22, of 137 Alan Adale Drive, Bassett, was indicted by a Henry County grand jury on a charge of aggravated malicious wounding in connection with the Oct. 16 incident.
According to a previous release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the alleged incident, Randi Mckel Chandler, 21, of Field Avenue, Fieldale, “was assaulted causing numerous lacerations to her head, upper torso and both arms. She also sustained a stab wound to her back.”
Chandler was pregnant at the time of the attack, Henry County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Winn said then.
Authorities received a call reporting the stabbing at 11:39 p.m. Oct. 16 on Field Avenue, the release said.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt. It is a grand jury’s determination that there is enough evidence to hold a trial.
