Last week’s snowstorm may seem like the distant past to Phil Garrett. The photo at left shows the icy road on Bridge Street near the Market Street intersection when snow started to fall on Wednesday, Feb. 12. By the time the snow stopped the next day, an average of 14 inches had fallen on Henry County. But this Wednesday, Garrett (right) could break out his shorts and short-sleeved shirt for his daily run as the temperature in Martinsville hit 71 around 4:30 p.m. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 50s and low 60s for the next few days, which means any precipitation that falls will be rain — no shoveling required — not snow.
