Kroger has opened its fuel center and completed the remodeling of its store at Liberty Fair Mall in Martinsville, creating 30 new jobs and investing $4 million at the site, according to a news release.
The fuel center is at the western entrance to the mall near Belk at 240 Commonwealth Blvd. Several grades of gasoline are sold, in addition to auto supplies, candy and tobacco products.
“Our fuel centers offer our loyal customers convenience and low prices, especially when they use the Kroger Plus Card and the Kroger 1-2-3 Rewards Visa Card,” said Carl York, spokesman for Kroger’s mid-Atlantic region. “Discounts can be as high as $1 per gallon, depending on the amount of groceries purchased.”
The discounts are valid at any of the 75 Kroger fuel centers in the mid-Atlantic region, including Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia and the eastern portions of Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio.
The store has “a completely new look inside,” said York. “There are new automatic entrance doors, décor, track lighting and expanded sections of meat, seafood and produce.”
With the opening of the fuel center and the renovation of the store, Kroger employs approximately 150 people in Martinsville.
The company sponsors races at the Martinsville Speedway and supports the United Way, Feeding America Southwest Virginia, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Children’s Miracle Network, Special Olympics, Girl Scouts, Juvenile Diabetes, American Heart Association, Muscular Dystrophy and the American Cancer Society.
