to mark Father’s Day

South Boston Speedway will host the Bojangles NASCAR Late Model 150 racing program at 7 p.m. Saturday night, and fathers will get in with a special admission price of $5 on Dad’s Night, according to a release from the speedway.

The night will feature five events on the .4-mile asphalt oval. The featured attraction of the evening will be a 150-lap race for the drivers in the NASCAR Whelen all-American late model division.

Other events scheduled include races for the competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division, the Modified Division and the Hornets Division.

Peyton Sellers leads the standings in the chase for the Whelen all-American series crown. Sellers, who owns four wins at South Boston Speedway this year, leads second-place Matt Bowling, a native of Ridgeway.

Sellers and Bowling also are among the top contenders in the Whelen series national championship standings. Sellers is currently fourth in the standings, while Bowling sits in seventh.

Bowling is seven points ahead of third-place Austin Thaxton in the South Boston Speedway standings. Thaxton, who owns one victory this season, leads fourth-place Bobby McCarty and fifth-place Bruce Anderson.

Pit gates will open on Saturday at 2 p.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Qualifying time trials will start off at 5:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open 5 p.m.
