New hours for market
Thursday, June 26, 2014
The Uptown Martinsville Farmers Market is open for business and will add extra hours on Mondays starting July 14.
The market is open from 7 a.m. until noon Saturdays through October and 7 a.m. until noon Wednesdays. Starting July 14, it will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays.
Pat Folio, market manager, said three farmers have the following produce to sell now: green beans, green peas, squash, zucchini, June apples, onions, new potatoes, dried apples and cabbage. Folio said there is a good chance that tomatoes will be available this Saturday as well.
Four vendors will sell non-produce items.
Due to the harsh, cold winter and high temperatures followed by late frosts, market vendors experienced delays in their harvests until this week, according to a release from Folio. The release states that as a result, some of the weekday opening hours were changed.
In addition to produce, the market will have baked goods, flowers, plants and more, and visitors may register to win a prize each day the market is open.
