BREAKING NEWS: Two arrested in slayings
Thursday, July 17, 2014
By BULLETIN STAFF REPORTS -
Two men have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the slayings last month of two brothers in Henry County.
Henry County Sheriff Lane Perry announced Thursday that arrests have been made in the deaths of Alfonso Navarro-Pena, 40, and Noel Navarro-Pena, 33. They were found dead of gunshot wounds on June 27 and 28.
Jonathan “Johnny” Rivera-Olvera, 24, of 244 Clyde Prillaman Drive, was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Perry said.
James Travis Moore, 33, of 71 Canterbury Lane, was charged with one count each of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Perry said.
“It appears the motive may have been related to money over drugs,” Perry said.
He said the investigation has revealed “high-level” drug sales centering around what is believed to be cocaine and marijuana.
“We’re not talking street-level drug deals,” he said.
Numerous federal, state and local agencies worked together to break the case, Perry said.
