BREAKING NEWS: Village Market robbery investigated

The Henry County Sheriff's Office has released this security camera photo in connection with an investigation of a robbery at the store Thursday.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery that occurred at Village Market, 6601 Fairystone Park Highway, Bassett, at 10 p.m. Thursday.

Two males entered the store and one of them brandished a handgun while demanding the clerks give him money, according to a sheriff’s office news release. The two suspects were heavily clothed, including masks and gloves.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money and the purse of one of the clerks, the two suspects fled the store on foot, the release stated.

This robbery is similar in nature to one the sheriff’s office is investigating that took place at the Fas Mart,1015 Fairystone Park Highway, Stanleytown, at 3:40 a.m. July 25, the release stated. One male suspect entered the store and brandished a handgun while demanding the clerk give him the money from the cash register, the release said.

The suspect in that incident was heavily clothed, including mask and gloves to conceal his identity, the release stated. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the store on foot, the release added.

The sheriff’s office is requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the people involved in these robberies. Anyone with information about the identity and whereabouts of these individuals is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 632-7463. 

The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $1,000 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information provided determine the amount of reward paid. 

The management of the Village Market also is offering an additional $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in that case.
