James Turner Pulliam, 79, of West Columbia, S.C., died Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

He was born in Martinsville to Samuel Robert Pulliam and Myrtle Turner Pulliam.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was the owner of Cavalier Textiles in West Columbia.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Closs Ann Pulliam of West Columbia; a daughter, Penny P. Reese of Lexington; a step daughter, Cynthia W. Godwin of San Antonia, Texas; two sisters, Verona Hall and Joan Cecil, both of Martinsville; a brother, R.L. Pulliam of Fork Union; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Starling Avenue Baptist Church, 932 Starling Ave., Martinsville, Va. 24112.

Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
