Extra time, troopers make race traffic move

This weekend, more than 100 people will invest more than 1,000 hours making sure race fans get to enjoy a good show at Martinsville Speedway.
No, not the drivers and pit crews — personnel with the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
First Sgt. Eric Malone, who has been overseeing race weekends in Martinsville for the state police for five years, said his department begins planning for race weekend three to four months in advance.
