More than 120 kittens, adult cats, puppies and adult dogs were rescued Tuesday and are hopefully heading for adoption through the joint efforts of the SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County, North Shore Animal League America and the American Humane Association.

Campbell assures County group ‘has no boundaries’

Clay Campbell, president of the Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG), assured the Henry County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday that C-PEG will continue to represent Henry County as well as Martinsville.

C-PEG is an independent, yet closely aligned, charitable affiliate of the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce.

A tough Patrick County Marine Corps veteran loves his motorcycle, but his passion is helping children.

That’s why James Edwards, 49, of Patrick Springs, is trying to start a local chapter of Guardians of the Children (GOC), a national organization that focuses on providing support for victims of child abuse. The chapter would cover Patrick, Henry and Floyd counties.
