The Martinsville Police Department is striving to recruit more minority and female officers, Police Chief Sean Dunn maintains.

During a Martinsville City Council neighborhood meeting Monday night at Albert Harris Elementary School, city resident Garland Hairston expressed concern about a lack of blacks, Hispanics and women on the police force.
