Clinic funds boost outlook
The Piedmont Virginia Dental Health Foundation of Martinsville has completed a shaky financial year with strong results.
The foundation operates the Community Dental Clinic in uptown Martinsville. Since the clinic opened in 2006, it has provided more than $6.1 million in dental services to the unemployed or uninsured adults and children in Martinsville and Henry County. There have been 26,502 patient visits during that time.
Income for the fiscal year which ended June 30 was $458,165.10, an increase of about $45,716 because of the support of The Harvest Foundation and the community.
Fees from patients totaled $216,023.36, yet dental services were valued at $987,869 for the year, said Dr. Mark Crabtree, president of the foundation.
