Cold weather heats up business for local firewood dealers

Snow and cold weather may slow down some people, but for those who split and deliver firewood, it’s often showtime.
Sarah Lester of Martinsville, whose family has been in the firewood business for several years, said when the snowstorm was predicted to hit early last week, the calls started coming in.
“We had 10 to 12 calls on that one day,” she said. “Some we could help but others we referred (to other firewood businesses).”
