Six officers charged in Freddie Gray death in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore’s top prosecutor acted swiftly, charging six officers in the death of Freddie Gray, who suffered a grave spinal injury as he was arrested and put into a police transport van, handcuffed and without a seat belt.

Thousands of people experienced Latino culture during the first-ever Cinco de Mayo festival, held “tres dias” (three days) early on Saturday in uptown Martinsville.

About 45 vendors set up stalls along Church Street, selling arts and crafts, household items and authentic Mexican food including tacos and burritos. American foods, such as hot dogs and funnel cakes, also were available.

From the day the Dutch Inn in Collinsville opened in 1969, the Grodensky family name has been synonymous with the business.

Al Groden, the family patriarch (he simplified his name for business purposes), came on board to manage the food and beverage part of the hotel when it opened, and his two sons, Howard and Steve Grodensky, followed later, eventually owning and managing the hotel — now the Dutch Inn/Quality Inn — and its popular restaurant.
