The Patrick Henry Community College softball team hosted a three-day camp this week at Martin Field. Participants consisted of 19 softball players from around the state and region, with current Patriot softball coaches and players leading the way. Additional coaching support was provided by Martinsville High School softball staff members. The camp covered fundamental drills and included other activities that promoted sportsmanship and competition together, according to PHCC athletic director Christopher Parker. The camp’s youngest attendee, Delaney Burris from Ridgeway, said, “I have learned a lot about bunting, slapping and catching the ball.” Bassett High School softball player Abby Williams said, “I have really enjoyed camp. I love coach Brown and the staff here at PHCC.” (Contributed photo)
