Bassett quarterback Mackenzie Lawson (front row, on left) signed a letter of intent on Thursday to play football at Ferrum University in Ferrum., an NCAA Division III program. Lawson, a senior at Bassett High School, threw for 779 yards and rushed for 859 yards last season. He had 16 total offensive touchdowns. He also scored a touchdown on defense. Lawson was recruited to play quarterback at Ferrum, which is the position he hopes to compete for.
