Jewel Price Bousman, Sr. 86 of Collinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 13 2013. He was born in Franklin Co., on April 3, 1926 to the late Tip Z. Bousman and Bertha Davis Bousman. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was retired after thirty two years with W.M. Bassett Furniture Co where he was a repairman in the finishing department. He was a member for more than forty five years at Hill Memorial Baptist Church which he loved and served as an usher and was a member of the adult senior Sunday school class. He loved to work in the garden and go to Nags Head, North Carolina twice a year to fish.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Lydia B. Helms and her husband Earl, two brothers, Morton Bousman and wife Polly, Dolphes Bousman and wife Betty.
Surviving are his wife of fifty seven years, Freida Vaughan Bousman of the home, one daughter, Jeannette B. Boyd and husband Linwood “Lin” of Christiansburg, three sons, J. P. Bousman, Jr., of Bassett, Jeffery Vaughan “Buck” Bousman of Bassett and Jerry C. Tawney of Bassett, two brothers, James Walter Bousman and wife Elaine of Ridgeway and Carlton Bousman and wife Nancy of Henry, six grandchildren, Christina Moore and husband Brandon of Lynchburg, Amanda Higgins and husband Rob of Chesapeake, Derrick Boyd and wife, Stephanie of Christiansburg, Zach Boyd and wife, Rae of Madison, West Virginia, Hettie Boyd of Christiansburg and Sheyanne Bousman of Collinsville, nine great grandchildren, Mallory Moore, Kallie Moore, Caden Moore, Alexis Boyd, Riley Higgins, Lillian Higgins, Natalie Boyd, Ryah Boyd and Dominic Scarafino, Mother in-law Lillian Vaughan and Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 16, 2013 at Hill Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Moss officiating, internment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Friday March 15, 2013 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home in Bassett and other times at the home.
