Audrey Slate Smith, 92, of Danbury, NC and formerly of Collinsville, VA, went home to Jesus on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Mountain Valley Living Center in Westfield, NC. Born in Stokes County, NC on November 28, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Anna Fulp Slate and Robert W. Slate. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Gray Slate, Revie Slate, Posie Slate and Avery Slate; three sisters, Daisy Carmichael, Macie Kiser and Velna Bishop.

Mrs. Smith was a long time active member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville where she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of WMU and the Phalathea Sunday school class and a member of the Sanctuary Choir. Most recently she was an active member of the Danbury Baptist Church of Danbury, NC.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah S. Vaden and husband, Wade Vaden of Danbury, NC; two grandchildren, Lucas Vaden and fiancé Ashley of Garner, NC and Sarah Vaden Delaney and husband, Immanuel of Greensboro, NC and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Monday afternoon, March 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday at 1:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service. The interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Danbury Baptist Church, PO Box 143, Danbury, NC 27016 or to First Baptist Church of Collinsville,

PO Box 36, Collinsville, VA 24078 or to the donor’s choice.
