EDEN- Mr. Milton Tuggle Spencer, 80, of Black Mountain passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
Mr. Spencer was born in Henry County, Virginia on June 2, 1932, a son of Charlie Arthur and Gay Handy Spencer, both deceased. He was a cross-country truck driver most of his life, who loved the open road and his family.
He is survived by his children, Billie S. Upchurch (Bobby) of Collinsville, VA, M. Carl Spencer (Elizabeth) of Spencer, VA, Lyndale C. Spencer of Martins-ville, VA and step daughter, Rita Brightwell; his sisters, Macie S. Smith (Alvin), Ruth S. Mize (Billy) and Mildred S. Lawson; his grandchildren, Trent Upchurch, Misty Gwynn, Scott Spencer, Dewey Spencer, Gregory Spencer, R.C. Bowman, Samuel Bowman; step grandchildren, Carman Tucker, David Stretter, Ashley Stretter, and Rodney Worley, Donna Chrisman; three great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and his former wife, Ruby Spencer, who remained close to Mr. Spencer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Samantha Upc-hurch and his stepson, Donnie Chrismon.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Stanleytown’s Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 755 Fairystone Park Highway, Stanleytown, VA. The burial will be private.
