David Lynwood Hunnicutt, 69, of Bassett, VA died on Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home. Born on November 23, 1943 in Bassett, he was a son of the late Mabel Manning Hunnicutt Stevenson and John Ralph Hunnicutt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Ralph Hunnicutt, II and a half-brother, William Stevenson.

Mr. Hunnicutt was a life time member of the Bassett Moose Lodge. He was retired as a commercial truck driver with over 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Gertrude Paugh Hunnicutt of the home; daughters, Tiana Robin Hunnicutt Hill of Fieldale, VA and Teresa Ann Hunnicutt Underwood of Bassett, VA; sister, Judy Hunnicutt Johnson of Augusta, GA; five grandchildren, Tiana Victoria Hunnicutt, Crystal Dawn Fretwell, David Leon Hunnicutt, William LeShayne Hill and Christopher Stephen Hill and three great-grandchildren, Amber Nicole Martin, Karen Lydiann Reyes and Nylla Tiana Hunnicutt-DeHart.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel with Minister David Culbertson and Marty Hundley officiating. Entombment will be in the Roselawn Abbey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening, April 7 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 308 Craghead Street, Danville, VA 24541 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24115 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
