ROBERT 'BOBBY' LEMUEL HOPKINS Last Name     

Robert “Bobby” Lemuel Hopkins, 76, of 57 Fairview Drive, Bassett, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2013, at Woltz Hospice Home of Dobson, N.C. He was born on September 23, 1936, to the late Lemuel Hurst Hopkins and Barbara Ballard Hopkins.

Robert was of the Baptist faith and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and also attended Gospel Baptist Church. Bobby enjoyed antique cars, classic movies, and traveling all over the United States. He retired from Dupont with 30 years of service. Robert loved the Lord and was always an encouragement to family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette H. Carter.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty Hopkins of the home; daughters, Lois Hopkins Boliek and husband, David of Greensboro, N.C., and Laurie Hopkins Jamison and husband, Rick of Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandchildren, Jason Boliek, Robert Jamison, Amber Jamison and Kaleigh Jamison; brother, Roger D. Hopkins of Axton, Va.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. in the evening at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. Entombment will follow in Henry Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honor to Gospel Baptist Building Fund; Tabernacle Baptist Van Fund; and Mountain Valley Hospice Home c/o Betty Hopkins.
