Ailene Martin Turner, 79, of The Woodland in Farmville and formerly of Martinsville passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012. She was born in Stokes County, North Carolina to the late Walter Amos Martin and Mary Orander Martin. She was the widow of Raymond Dexter Turner.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Turner Whitus and husband, David of Farmville and son, Winfred W. Turner and wife Teresa of Bassett. One brother, Cecil Martin and wife Dot of Stoneville, NC; Grandchildren, Mandy Turner Fuqua and husband Cliff of Salisbury, NC and Brandon and Kimberly Turner of Bassett; Great-grandchildren Dawson and Mason Fuqua.
She was predeceased by brothers Troy Martin and Wayne Martin and sisters Christine Shaeffer and Margaret Shelton.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church, Fieldale, VA where she was a member. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. with service at 2:00 p.m. and interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, Martinsville.
The family is grateful to the nurses and staff at The Woodland who have cared for “Nannie” for the past 10 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, Farmville, VA or a charity of your choice.
