Emily Oakes Wells, 90, of 13729 Franklin Tpke, Dry Fork, VA went to be with her Savior Monday, February 11, 2013 at her residence.
Born in Pittsylvania County November 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lawson Oakes and the late Charlotte Mitchell Oakes. She was predeceased by her husband, Everette “Bill” Wells.
Mrs. Wells was former owner of Oakes Implement Co. and was a member of Swansonville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Wells Irby; her son, John S. Wells, both of Dry Fork; her grandchildren, Steven Irby, Kimberly Wyatt and Sheree Marilla; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Martin.
Graveside services will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Linwood Cook officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville and at other times will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Swansonville United Methodist Church.
