Evelyn “Bunny” Creswell O’Neal, 98, of Martinsville, VA (King’s Grant Community) died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her home. She was born on August 6, 1914 in Tucker County, WV to the late Clarence A. Creswell and Geretie Bageant Creswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward O’Neal.
She graduated from Handley High School in Winchester, VA in the class of 1932. The O’Neal’s moved to King’s Grant in August of 1993 becoming one of the pioneer residents of the King’s Grant Community. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Martinsville, VA and associate member of the Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester, VA.
Prior to her marriage, Mrs. O’Neal was self-employed as Owner/Manager of the Winchester Credit Bureau and did credit reporting for nine counties in the State of Virginia. Upon marrying Mr. O’Neal, who was a member of the U. S. Air Force, she sold her business and joined him. She spent over 25 years as a Gray Lady with American Red Cross and did other volunteer jobs including the Blood Bank Program and Meals on Wheels. While living in Charleston, WV, she was Assistant to the Director of the Charleston Art Gallery.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Streib and Donald Streib of Morgantown, WV, four grandchildren, Donald K. Streib, Sonya S. Miller, Daniel E. Streib and John R. Streib and five great-grandchildren, Jonah, Molly, Abigail, Jordan and Salim.
A graveside service will be held in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kirk Nave officiating.
A memorial service will be held in Martinsville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the King’s Grant Fellowship Fund, 350 Kings Way Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.
