SANDY RIDGE – William Kent Wood, 71, died, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at his home.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Delta United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Dodson Family Cemetery.
Kent was born on October 23, 1941, in Stokes County to the late William Oscar and Helen Holmes Tuttle Wood. He was a co-owner and operator, together with his brother Barry, of W.O.Wood & Sons, Inc. He loved his customers and all the people of the Sandy Ridge community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Neal Wood; his maternal grandparents; Elder James Watt and Madge Tuttle; and his paternal grandparents, Rufus Oscar and Ada Hawkins Wood.
Survivors include his wife; Wilodae Dodson Wood; his son, William Bradley Wood; grandchildren, Tyler Gail and William Jaret Wood; brother, James Barry (Carolyn) Wood; brother-in-law, Odean (Judy) Dodson; and sister-in-law, Cora D. Stone.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, Friday, February 15,2013, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delta United Methodist Church, c/o David Hogan, Treas., 5993 NC 704 Hwy. E., Sandy Ridge, NC 27046.
