Mary Hamblett Walker, 80, of Ridgeway, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, February 15, 2013 at her home. Born in Franklin County, VA on December 11, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Kathleen Altice Hamblett and Woodrow T. Hamblett. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lynwood “Billy” M. Walker and her son, Gregory T. Walker.
Mrs. Walker was retired from E. I. DuPont, Inc. after 32 years of service. She was a very faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of Ridgeway, where she was the church’s official greeter. Her sweet smile and loving way was welcoming to all who entered there.
Survivors include a sister, Pauline Robinson of Boynton Beach, FL; one grandson; one great-grandson; several nieces & nephews; special friend and one she loved as a daughter, Gloria Compton of Ridgeway and special friend, Betty Aldridge of Ridgeway.
The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Ridgeway, VA with Pastor Doug Ramsey and Pastor Roger Jones officiating. Interment will be at Franklin Memorial Park, Franklin County, VA.
Mrs. Walker requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 18075 A. L. Philpott Hwy., Ridgeway, VA 24148.
