Douglas “Doug” Bruce Beaver, 65, of 466 Green Acres Circle, Martinsville, VA died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden, NC. He was born on April 30, 1947 in Point Pleasant, WV to the late Sceva K. Beaver. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” David Beaver and an aunt, Carrie E. Beaver.
Mr. Beaver was a member of Leon Baptist Church of Leon, WV and attended Horsepasture Christian Church of Ridgeway, VA. He worked, as a truck driver, for Mabe Trucking for seven years. Mr. Beaver was a member of Mt. Home Masonic Lodge #263 of Stuart, VA, a member of Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Dept., Company 13 and had served with Fieldale Volunteer Fire Dept., Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Dept. and Moorefield Store Volunteer Fire Dept.
Surviving are his wife, Janet Paugh Beaver of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn “Kathy” Beaver and Gary Malicote, Jr. of Bassett, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph “Joey” Grant Beaver and Tara Bowman of Martinsville, VA; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces and one granddaughter, Melody Wilson.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Horsepasture Christian Church with Minister David Cuthbertson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites by Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #263. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the home.
