Howard W. Thacker “Paw Paw”, 75, of Goodview, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee Thacker; parents, George and Ruth Thacker; brothers, Marshall, Everett, Otis, Pozy, and Dewey Thacker; and sister, June Hopkins.
Survivors are his children, Wanda Neal and husband, Mike and Donna Wilson and husband, Cecil, all of Roanoke, James “Doug” Viars and wife, Michelle of Stafford, and Brenda Bonds and husband, Clarence of Goodview; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter and Billy Thacker; and sisters, Myrtle Martin, Eva Houck, Gracie Cobbler, Annie Phillips and Mary Hammock.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel with Rev. James Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with military honors by the D.A.V. Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, 982-2221.
