NANCY JANE BARNES TURNER Last Name     

Nancy Jane Barnes Turner passed away on March 10, 2013. She was the wife of Vincent W. Turner, Jr. of Collinsville for 45 years.

Mrs. Turner was a graduate of John D. Bassett High School, Averett College, and Radford College where she received her B.S. Degree in elementary education. She spent her entire teaching career in the Henry County Public Schools.

She was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church and most recently a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County and at the Collinsville Branch Library.

Mrs. Turner was born on March 9, 1945 to the late H.E. and Helen B. Barnes. Surviving her besides her husband, are her two sons Brian (and wife Melissa) of Greensboro, NC, and Steven (and wife Cara) of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by 4 very special grandchildren: Amber Scott, Joshua and Nicholas Turner of Greensboro, NC and Harper Larrain Turner of Virginia Beach, VA. Also surviving is her brother, H. Edward Barnes, Jr. (and Louise) of Pinehurst, NC.

A memorial service will be held at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at 2:00pm with the Reverend Doug Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be held beginning at 12:30pm before the memorial service. The service will conclude at Roselawn Burial Park.

According to her wishes, she requested no flowers. Instead memorial donations may be made to the Bassett Historical Center (3964 Fairystone Park Highway, Bassett, VA 24055) or to the American Cancer Society (P. O. Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24115.
