Apple-Nut Cake

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 11â�„2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1â�„4 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter
Beat eggs. Add sugar and oil, mix well. Sift together flour and cinnamon, salt and soda. Mix with sugar and egg mixture. Add vanilla, apples, nuts and raisins. Bake at 325 degrees for 11�4 hours in a greased and floured tube pan.
Melt brown sugar, milk and butter in a saucepan, mixing well. Pour over cake while it is still hot and place under broiler and leave about 3 minutes.
