Ingredients:
  • 1 cup soft shortening
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1â�„2 cup cold coffee
  • 31â�„2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 21â�„2 cups halved raisins
  • 11â�„4 cups broken nuts
Thoroughly mix shortening, brown sugar and eggs. Stir in coffee. Sift together dry ingredients, then stir into batter. Mix in raisins and nuts.
Chill 1 to 2 hours. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about two inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or so that when touched, no imprint remains.
