  • 1â�„2 lb. butter
  • 1â�„2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1â�„2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 TBS cocoa
  • 1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream butter, shortening and sugar together; add vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together; add cocoa. Fold in dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Pour batter into a greased tube pan and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Frost with your favorite icing if desired.
