Contributed by: Brooke Nance
  • 5 cups cherries
  • 1 cup sugar, plus more if desired
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1â„2 stick butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1â„2 to 3â„4 cup warm water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place the cherries on the bottom of a pan. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Allow cherries to sit in sugar for 30 minutes; stir.
In a bowl, mix sugar and flour. Melt the butter and add milk; mix into flour mixture. Pour the mixture over the cherries and follow with warm water. Add or decrease water depending on amount of juice yielded by cherries after they sat in sugar. Bake for one hour.
