Mom's Congo Bars

  • 2?3 cup shortening, or 1?3 cup butter and 1?3 cup shortening
  • 4 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 21?2 cups flour
  • 11?2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1?2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a jelly roll pan well.
Mix all ingredients and pour into pan.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Cut into squares after cooling.
