Contributed by: Maria Nguyen
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 6 cups club soda
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice
  • Pinch of salt, optional
  • Thai basil, as garnish
Put equal parts of sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking without stirring for about 5 minutes until the mixture is clear and the consistency of light syrup. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
In a pitcher, combine the sugar water and lime juice. Fill six glasses with ice, then pour 1?4 cup of mixture in each glass. Fill the rest of the way with club soda, stir and serve immediately.
Add salt if desired, and garnish with Thai basil.
