  • For the cake:
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 TBS cocoa
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • For the icing:
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 TBS cocoa
  • 3 TBS milk
  • 1/2 box powdered sugar
For the cake:
In a large bowl, sift flour and sugar together and set aside.
In a saucepan, mix water, cocoa, oil and margarine. Bring to a hard boil.
Remove from heat and add flour and sugar mixture. Mix well with a whisk or a mixer. Add buttermilk and eggs, mixing well by hand.
Pour into a sheet pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
For the icing:
Combine margarine, cocoa and milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Mix with 1?2 box powdered sugar. Pour over cake.
