CHAMPURRADAS

Ingredients:
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 ounce sesame seeds
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Mix in sugar, eggs, butter and shortening. Mix with hands until a uniform dough forms (can take up to 8 minutes).
Using a rolling pin, roll out dough as thin as possible, dusting rolling pin and surface with flour to prevent sticking. Use a large glass or bowl to cut into circles about 6 inches wide. Sprinkle sesame seeds over each circle.
Lay each circle on a cookie sheet. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until they begin to brown. Remove from cookie sheet carefully with a spatula.
Makes 3 dozen.
