  • For crust:
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1?2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • For body:
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
  • 1?2 cup plus 2 TBS sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 apples
  • 1 TBS cinnamon
  • 1?2 tsp. apple pie spice
  • 1?4 tsp. nutmeg
  • For topping:
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1?2 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1?2 cup (1 stick) butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Make crust: Mix flour, brown sugar and butter. Press into a 12- by 9-inch baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes.
Make body: Mix together cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, eggs and vanilla. Pour over warm crust, spreading evenly.
Peel, core and finely chop apples. Toss with 2 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, apple pie spice and nutmeg. Spread over cream cheese mixture.
Make topping: With fork or pastry cutter, blend brown sugar, self-rising flour, oats and butter. Spread over apple mixture.
Return to oven. Bake for 40 minutes or until cheese mixture is set.
