  • 2 TBS butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown rice, rinsed
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in rice and keep stirring for 2-3 minutes, until at least half the grains change color. Pour in water and bring to a boil. Stir, then reduce heat to low. Add salt (optional). Cover pan and let set on low for one hour (do not remove lid).
