FUDGE OR PEANUT BUTTER CANDY

Ingredients:
  • for base:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1â�„4 light corn syrup
  • 1â�„3 cup cream
  • 3â�„4 stick melted margarine
  • for flavoring:
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 heaping TBS peanut butter or 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
Grease a large casserole dish or a platter, and have beaters handy.
In a saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, cream and margarine over medium or medium-high heat. Stirring continually, bring the mixture to the boil and let it boil two minutes. Turn off heat and let the mixture continue boiling until it stops naturally, still stirring. Remove from heat and blend in flavorings. Beat until smooth (about four minutes). Pour mixture onto a platter or into a baking dish and let cool. Cut into 1-inch squares.
