Photo Album
Seth Adkins of Charles City, Va., wears a large, colorful headdress at Saturday’s23rd Annual Indian Festival put on by the Virginia Museum of Natural History. Dances, exhibits and activities also were featured at the annual event. (Bulletin photo by Mike Wray) Indian Festival-goers watch a Native American dance performed at the event held at Martinsville Middle School. Ramona Murphy of Horsepasture picks out a dreamcatcher at the Indian Festival. According to legend, a grandmother spider gave people the secret of her web. It represents the circle of life. When hung above a bed, it catches dreams. The good dreams escape through the hole in the center and run down the feathers to the dreamer. The bad dreams are caught in the web and burned away by the rising sun.
