Photo Album
J.B. Kerns helped get the site for his new ‘smart home’ ready Thursday by pushing down trees with a bull dozer. Kerns lost both legs and his right arm in an IED attack in Afghanistan in 2011. (Bulletin photo) J.B. Kerns (left) speaks to the crowd gathered Thursday in Ararat to help break ground on his new ‘smart home.’ Beside him is John Hodge of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Ground was broken Thursday for a ‘smart home’ for J.B. Kerns, a veteran who lost both legs and his right arm in Afghanistan. Those who participated are (from left) Tom Rose, Patrick County Administrator; Supervisor Roger Hayden; Kerns; John Hodge of the Steven Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation; Jeremiah Mehl with general contractor Alden Haus Crafters; and Dave Blanchard, project manager for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The home is expected to be complete by July 1. (Bulletin photo)
Above is an artist’s drawing of the house to be built for J.B. Kerns in Ararat. The house is a log cabin style, and features a green roof, double-car garage and stone facade. People gather at the site of a new home for J.B. Kerns in Ararat. JEB Bassett (right) of Bassett Furniture tells of his company providing all the furniture for J.B. Kerns' new home in Ararat as John Hodge of the Steven Siller Tunnerl to Towers Foundation looks on.
