Parade launches holiday season for young, old

Santa Claus ushers in the holiday season in Saturday’s Christmas parade in Martinsville. The Martinsville-Henry County Christmas Parade was full of floats and fun on Saturday. At left are grand marshals Gracie Agnew (left) and Trey Harris of the Henry County Schools. (Bulletin photos by Mike Wray) Clarence’s Steak and Seafood House’s float won first place in the commercial category.
The Candy Mill Railroad float, sponsored by Southern Properties, won second place in the commercial category. First United Methodist Church placed second in the religious category. The PHCC Patriot Players float won third place in the non-religious category.
New Beginnings Pentecostal Holiness Church won third place in the religious category. Dan River Basin Association/Philpott Corps of Engineers won third place in the commercial category. The MHC Falcons Football float (left) won first place in the non-religious category.
The Freedom Fellowship Ministries’ float placed first in the religious category. Church Street was filled with parade-goers as the entourage winds to an end on Ellsworth Street. The holiday spirit was warm during the parade, but the temperatures were cold. Above, Jesse Mullins, 7, and his great aunt, Gayle Martin of Bassett, try to stay warm before the entourage started.
