The Martinsville High School marching band on Friday performed a tribute to former school band director Charles Butler, who died in April. During halftime of the Martinsville-Bassett football game, the Bulldog band made a formation honoring Butler. His family also was given a plaque. (Contributed photo) The family of Charles Butler was presented with a plaque in his memory. Shown are (from left) his wife, Donna Butler; his sister, Gloria Graves; and his sons, Charlz Butler and Chase Butler. The late Charles L. Butler, who had been director of the Martinsville High School marching band, was memorialized Friday night during half-time at the Martinsville High School football game. Butler, who died in April, also was music director at Albert Harris Middle School from 1982-1998.
