Holiday Activities Guide

First Friday: County Line Christian Church in Axton will have Mark Templeton as the musician for the First Friday Music event. The event is free, and refreshments will be served.
Gospel Singing: First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church will sponsor a gospel singing at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Stoney Mountain Primitive Baptist Church, 67 Boondock Road, Martinsville. The Voices of Melody, The Gospel Echoes and The Gospel Five will sing. The service will benefit the building fund.
Choral Anniversary: The senior choir of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Patrick Springs will celebrate its anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday. Various area choirs will render music.
Community Meal: Blackberry Baptist Church, 3241 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, will have a community meal and Bible study at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Morning Glories: Morning Glories, a community fellowship group, will gather from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall of Bassett Church of the Brethren. Roy McVey, pastor of Collinsville Church of the Brethren, will speak. Soup and drinks will be served. Bring sandwiches and desserts to share. Donations of non-perishable foods for the Thanksgiving food box project will be taken.
Brunswick Stew: Fieldale United Methodist Church will sell Brunswick stew on Saturday. The stew will be packaged in Styrofoam containers and sold for $6 per quart, take-out only, available around 11 a.m. Also that day the church will have a bake sale, silent auction, flea market, themed baskets, plants and crafts. A hot dog lunch will raise money for a ministry.
Fall Festival: God’s Love Outreach Ministry, 1223 Chatham Heights Road, Martinsville, will hold its annual fall festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Activities will include carnival games, face painting, treats, prizes, vendors with items for sale and Nellie’s Food on the Go food truck.
Guest Speaker: Deliverance Faith Temple Church will have guest speaker Pastor Joseph Reynolds of Celestial Deliverance Church in Danville at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Ordination of Deacons: First Christian Church in Stuart will have an ordination of deacons at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Merinda Easley of Shaw Christian Church in Eden, North Carolina.
Pastoral Anniversary: Grace Chapel Ministries, 182 Blackberry Road, Bassett, will celebrate the 18th pastoral anniversary of Pastor Mandell A. Motley Sunday. The guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. service will be Elder Billy Adams of Danville. The guests at 3 p.m. will be Bishop Raymond Bennett and the choir and congregation of Greater Canaan Land Church in Gretna.
Pastoral Anniversary: New Cascade Baptist Church, 4900 Cascade Road, Cascade, will celebrate the third anniversary of Pastor Lemond Adams on Sunday. Elder Dolphus Adams, pastor of Danbury and New Center Primitive Baptist Churches, will render the 11 a.m. service, and Elder Leonard Thompson, pastor of Christ Temple United Holiness Church, will render the 3 p.m. service. Lunch will be served between services.
High Noon: Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ of the Apostolic Doctrine, 938 Brookdale St., Martinsville, will have “High Noon” Family and Friends Day at noon Saturday with guest Bishop David Myricks of Holy Temple Church of Christ in Washington. Dress attire is casual church attire.
Twelve Tribes: The churches of Smith River Missionary Baptist Association will present “The 12 Tribes of Israel” at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Association center. Tribe leaders should arrive by 3:30 p.m. Deacon Curtis Millner is the coordinator.
Revival: Collinsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 45 Spring Drive, will have revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Nov. 3, and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. Evangelist Brenda Isom of Danville will be the speaker. The pastor is the Rev. Brad Wilson.
Revival: St. Paul Holiness Church, Sunset Drive, Bassett, will have revival at 7:15 nightly Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 9, with guest speaker the Rev. Allen Preston, pastor of Refuge Temple.
Revival: Temple Baptist Church will have a “Missions” revival with Evertie More on Sunday, with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and with Tim Morrison at 7 nightly Monday through Wednesday. The church is on 125 English Road, Martinsville (behind Biscuitville off 220 North Business).
Powerful Women Conference: First Lady Arleen Divens will host the Annual Pastors’ Wives and Powerful Women Conference Nov. 9 and 10 at the Koury Convention Center at 3121 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, North Carolina. Overnight accommodations can be made at the Sheraton Four Seasons Hotel (same location). The conference will start at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 with guest preachers Minister and First Lady Sylvia Fuller of Danville and Elder Angela Dones of Martinsville. The program on Nov. 10 will begin at 9 a.m. and feature guest preacher Mininster Beryl Miller of Gastonia, North Carolina, and keynote preacher Pastor Kim White of Petersburg. The guest singer will be Stephanie Motley of Danville. The guest ministering in praise dance will be Janeka Hairston of Martinsville. The Saturday schedule will include three sessions and a lunch. Community Bible Studies

Study in the Word: “A Study in the Word” Bible study takes place at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday in the Hague Room at Quality Inn in Collinsville.
