While the Patriot Players’ “Mamma Mia!” is in its final week of performances, TheatreWorks Community Players is getting ready to open a new show and already has the cast chosen for the one that will come next.
“Mamma Mia!” will be presented at 7 tonight through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Walker Fine Arts Theatre at Patrick Henry Community College.
“Moon Over Buffalo” opens the next week in the Black Box Theatre at 44 Franklin St. and will be presented at 7 p.m. May 9-11 and May 16-18. That comedy centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the time of the play, they are acting in repertory theatre while grumbling about missed Hollywood opportunities.

Auditions for TheatreWorks’ next production, “Cabaret,” were held Saturday. “Cabaret” is a 1960s musical set in the 1930s. It is about a woman who works as a singer in the Kit Kat Club.
The cast of Cabaret will be Robbie Hendrix, Master of Ceremonies; Demi Richardson, Sally Bowles; Jason Viers, Clifford Bradshaw; Tish Owens, Frau Schneider; Don Grayson, Herr Schultz; Jo Grayson, Frau Kost.
Also in “Cabaret” will be Sandra Elliot, Sarah Kallam, Marcy Martin, Demetra “DeeDee” Richardson and Madison Stowe as the Kit Kat Girls; and Holden Agee and Austin McCrickard as Waiters/Sailors/others.
“Cabaret” will be performed June 20-22 and 27-29 in the Black Box Theatre.
The next Patriot Players show will be “Beauty and the Beast.” Its auditions will be held at 6 p.m. May 15 and at 1-4 p.m. May 18.
